I hope you don’t need to be encouraged in this season of thanks to reflect on all of the wonderful blessings of God in your life. It’s a great time to recognize all of the things that we take for granted each and every day. That’s easy to do and we rarely thank God for those things until we see someone close to us lose them. It’s also a great time to teach our children/grandchildren to be thankful for what they have and for what has been provided for them by the labor of the hands of others. There are millions of people who will spend this Thanksgiving without even a thought to it’s significance. Let’s teach them to cherish God and thank Him for His wonderful gift of this country. To cherish their families and friends above the “things” that the world puts such focus on and to appreciate all of the work that was done to provide what they have. Unfortunately our world continues to become more and more selfish and the “I deserve everything just because I’m me” attitude rules and reigns even among Christians.
This Thanksgiving let’s all remember that we are nothing, deserve nothing, and would have nothing without the Grace and Mercy of Almighty God.
I’ll leave you with this……….
“If I did not see that the Lord kept watch over the ship, I should long since have abandoned the helm. But I see Him, through the storm strengthening the tackling, handling the yards, spreading the sails, aye, more, commanding the very winds! Should I not be a coward if I abandon my post? Let Him govern, let Him carry us forward, let Him hasten or delay! We will have no fear of what may come.”
