WHEW!!!!

Not sure I’ve been conscious for much of August but I think I’m coming out of it.  Recording, and baby coming, and kitchen rennovation, and a surprise 70th birthday party for dad, and a few actual concerts mixed in.  My wonderful neighbors have even been taking pity on me and mowing my lawn for me!

The surprise party worked great here are some pictures:

More news coming tomorrow…..

Always Good To Go Home…

Not home exactly but there are some churches we’ve been going to for so many years on an annual basis that it feels like we’re at home.  Calvary in Edwardsville, IL is one of those.  It started with a revival years ago and it’s been great ever since.

We’re doing a concert there this morning with Pastor Rob Schneider and then we’ll head back to our neck of the woods for a concert tonight at FBC, Marion, IL.

If you’re anywhere close come and see us!

Arkansas Once Again

Had a great time in Arkansas again this weekend.  We were in Stamps and Hope on Sunday.  It felt good to have a few days at home after the long trip the week before.  It was a long haul just for Sunday but both groups were very receptive and fun to sing to.

We’re off during the week again this week which is welcomed.  We’re trying to rehearse for a new recording and get caught up on the home front with all that’s been neglected while we were gone.

We’ll be in Swansea and Steelville, Illinois this weekend.  If you’re anywhere close be sure to come and see us.

It is not cold….

We were in Oklahoma on Sunday and are currently in Arkansas.  Let me tell you, it is not COLD, COOL, or even a nice warm here, it’s HOT!!!  Not a big fan of the summer heat, especially in the South.

Had a great Sunday though anyway.  Grace Community has been a regular stop over the years and they always treat us so well.  Faith Baptist in Broken Arrow was new to us and we had a wonderful time getting to know the folks there.  They were a fun bunch to get to know.

On Tuesday morning we helped kick off a new Senior Adult ministry at FBC in Greenwood, Arkansas.  We did a concert for a Senior Adult luncheon in The “Rock”!  The “Rock” is their recereational facility and it’s very well done, well thought out, and classy.

Off to another concert today in Atkins, Arkansas.  I’ll keep you updated.

Continue to pray with us about the finances for our new recording.  Thanks.

Oklahoma and Other Points West

We had a great but loooong weekend in Oklahoma.  Started out in Muskogee at Lawrence St Baptist on Saturday night.  Got to see a lot of friendly faces and had some great home-made ice cream (which of course I really needed badly).  On Sunday we were with an old friend at a new church.  Len Lovel is now Minister of Music at Memorial Baptist in Tulsa where we sang 8:45am and 11:15am.

Sunday night we did a concert at another new place but with a great friend.  Pastor Danny Gandara came to know The Lord in a revival we were doing the music for years ago and is now pastor at First Baptist Church in Ft Gibson, OK.  It was our 4th concert in 24 hours but what a wonderful time!!  There was such a great spirit and it was just downright fun!!

All in all we were pretty whipped by the time we got home last night (Monday).  We’ve only got a few days to rest however before we head back out to OK for Sunday.  Then we’ll trek through Arkansas and sing Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and 3 times Sunday.

Stay Tuned….

New Recording

We went to Nashville and spent the day on Thursday to start the ball rolling on a new recording.  Gus Gaches is going to produce again for us.  In our opinion he’s one of the most talented guys in Nashville.  He wears many “hats”.  He’s a producer, song writer, sings with The old Imperials when they tour in Europe, sings with the Lefevre Quartet, and more.  We’re just glad he still chooses to work with groups like us.

We’re excited about this new recording.  There are a couple of old classics that we’ll be doing as well as a couple of “instant” classics in Christian music.  We’ll also be doing 6 original songs.  One was sent to us and I’ve written 5 of them.  I’m a little nervous having so many songs on one recording, it’s definitely a first.  Our first recording session (for tracks) will be in July.

Please pray with us about the financing for this recording.  It’s not getting any cheaper and with the rising cost of fuel added to our already strained budget we’re a little behind.

I’ll keep you updated.

Southern Baptist Convention

We had a rough week in Indianapolis the week before the convention. It seemed like the sirens went off at least once a day announcing another possible tornado. The day before we arrived a tornado took out an apartment building. The day we left the church to head to our weekend concerts their education building flooded. We gave some thought to making the bus into an ark but decided Chris already smelled enough like animal hehe, sorry Chris.

This past Sunday (yes I know I’m getting worse and worse at writing on time) we were in Dayton, OH with the folks at East Dayton Baptist. We spent Sunday night at Hebron, KY with an old friend, Dale Cambell and had a great time.

Sons of The Father hung out at the Southern Baptist Convention on Monday and Tuesday. It was great to re-connect with old friends and people that we have sung for for many years. This July will mark the beginning of our 20th year of traveling full-time. We got to see some pastors and staff people that we’ve sung for that long ago.

One of the highlights of the convention was getting to meet Tony Dungee. He was signing his book “Quiet Strenght”. Even if you’re not a Colts fan you’ve got to be a Tony Dungee fan. The class and integrity he has brought to the sport will never be forgotten and is a welcome change to what we get in the rest of the “pro sports” world.

On Tuesday night we enjoyed the Illinois fellowship. It seems to grow every year but was well attended this year of course with the convention being so close in Indiana. Got to see a lot of good friends from years past.

I”ll update you on this weekend’s concerts in a few days. Happy Father’s Day!
